Grown Up Christmas List

Originally recorded in 1990 by Natalie Cole, the song was later extended by Amy Grant for her second Yuletide album, "Home for Christmas." The song is written from the perspective of an adult who still wants to believe in the magic of the holiday, but knows that the world is deeply troubled and there are no easy answers in life.

Typically, the song is performed in very sweet and hopeful tones. But here, we've tried to capture the raw sense of exhaustion felt by so many who are suffering, even as they cling to their last remaining shreds of hope. Sometimes, hope is all you have to get through the night.

We had to stop recording several times, as Cindy wept through most of the takes. The result is as real and heartfelt as it ever gets.
